A Quote Book

In the movie A Walk To Remember, Jamie's mother had a quote book where she wrote down quotes that inspired her. Ever since watching that movie, I've wanted to make one.

I admit, I've ripped out a few pages because I was too messy when I was drawing... I'm not usually too picky about that, but I really want this book to be neat!
I've only done three pages so far, because every time I try to do it quickly I end up with a mistake.

Recently I read the Aeneid and this line really stuck out to me. I just love it!

And of course the famous Augustus Waters must make an appearance.

This is probably my favorite Taylor Swift lyric of all time. I'm sure more of her lyrics will be in this book by when it's finished.

Another TFiOS reference....but technically it's a quote from Caesar

And this page is my favorite so far. This is a lyric from my absolute favorite song ever, Jesus you are beautiful to me, by Sara Groves.

I'm also drawing borders along the top and bottom. These have mostly been the reason for the redoes.

I love this book so much! I encourage you guys to start one too.
Thanks for reading!

A Crazy Quilt

I've always loved crazy quilts, because they say so much about the person who made them. You can put so many little details into them and the colors and embroidery can really reflect what you like. I've seen some amazing ones in antique stores, but they're always either very old and worn or very expensive. I've only made three small quilts. Two were wall hangings, and one a baby quilt. But I've always wanted to make a bed quilt. So my goal is to have the top of this quilt finished by 2015. Not necessarily the embroidery... we'll see when we get there.  (I've also been inspired by Kelsie's new quilt)

I've made 9 blocks so far, and I have 21 to go!

Please tell me this block looks like a tree... It didn't turn out as well as I hoped. But I'm going to outline it more with the embroidery.

this block is supposed to resemble a grassy hill with blue sky behind it. I plan to embroider houses (from my books) on it :D

Though crazy quilts traditionally were a way to use leftover scraps of fabric, I don't have enough to make one that way. So my friends and family donated fabric scraps.
(obviously I need to iron these!)

The color scheme of this block revolved around this fabric. I love it!

And this block was inspired by my obsession with the Wizard of Oz.

I'm looking forward to when I can do the embroidery, because I suspect that will be the best part... I'll be posting quilting updates and pictures of new blocks that I make,
 Thanks for reading <3

Blog Award

Hey guys,
Ana over at Every Stinkin Page tagged me for the Sunshine blog award, so thanks Ana :D
Ana does a writing blog that's quite informative on writing... so go follow her blog!
Now you don't have to do this, but the rules say I have to nominate people, So Kelsie and Emma.

Rules:
I. thank the blogger that nominated you and link to his/her blog
II. nominate other bloggers and let them know on their blogs
III. answer a list of ten questions
IV. the Sunshine Award button must be posted on your blog

Here are the questions:
1. What is your favorite quote from a book? It's from Les Miserables (my all time favorite book): God caused flowers to blossom before men shaped stone.

2. Would you sacrifice your life if it would save that of a stranger's? I think I would.

3. Given a chance to swim with dolphins . . . would you accept? Absolutely! Every time my family goes to the beach, we see dolphins swimming off the shore.... but I'm too scared of sharks to swim out to where they are. they'd probably swim away anyway.

4. Are you more "fascinated" by the light or by the darkness; why? Light, because it makes rainbows

5. Can you speak with a different accent? I can occasionally get away with an Australian accent, but usually I sound ridiculous...

6. Would you rather be disliked or forgotten? Being forgotten sounds horrible off the bat, but I would hate to be disliked. probably forgotten then.
7. Has the ocean ever filled your dreams? No, not really.

8. Presuming you own one, how often is your journal put to use?  I journal every night.

9. Favorite fictional character of all time? Wow. How am I supposed to answer this? Off the top of my head; Percy Jackson. Or Finnick.
10. What is your favorite hymn? Be Thou My Vision

Well that was fun!
thanks for reading :D

A Book Shelf Necklace

I love miniatures. So when I saw this little bookshelf necklace on pinterest, I decided to make it!
All of my 'ingredients'. ( and our very messy crafting table...)

here's mine.
It's not as neat as the original (of course) but I think it's cute!

Crocheted Jewelry

Inspired by something I saw on Pinterest (of course :P ), I made a crocheted necklace.

I crocheted around a key chain ring for the big one, and smaller rings for the little ones.
I quite like it. :)

On colorful shoes

So I had this pair of hand-me-down shoes.
They're really cute right?
I loved them, but they didn't match anything that I own. And what's the point of having shoes if you can't wear them?
So I decided to recycle them :)

1. I pulled off the ribbon.
 Now they look like this:

2. I got a bunch of colorful fabric scraps.

3. I cut the scraps to fit and glued them to the shoes.

4. I made two braids of some strips of matching fabric.

4. I glued the braids down across the shoes, like the ribbon was originally.

And...  Ta-da!!!

An awesome pair of very cool shoes. I love the scrappy look!

Super colorful and will probably match everything I own :)

I'll probably fray check the edges and spray them with some fabric protector later....
